Infrared security camera consists of infrared LED lighting facillity in the lens. This helps to capture and produce clear,
visible pictures in absolute darkness. Even if there is very less light the camera can take pictures and show as if the
picture was taken at day time. Infrared security cameras are used in business places where there is no light and the
source of light is switched off. Infrared security camera takes very accurate and clear images with the available light such
as moon light, street light, etc. Infrared security cameras are also known as "Night Vision" cameras as they are able to
produce pictures in darkness. Most often "Night Vision" is confused with "Day / Night cameras" which do not have built in
Infra-red. Characteristics of infrared security camera:- 1. When light is available in good quntity the camera will work as usual and then turn to infra-red mode when there is no
sufficient light. 2. All infra-red cameras capture picture in black and white. 3. "Lux rating" is the ability of the camera to take picture in dark. It would be better if the "lux rating" is low because the
lower the lux rating the better is the ability for it to view in darkness. 4. The lux rate of Infra-red facilliated cameras are 0.0 which means they can take pictures with no light at all. 5. They are also characterised by the amount of distance they can take picture. some cameras have ability to view upto 150
ft at any weather conditions. 6. One must take care to buy out door weather proof cameras. This is due to the reflection of glass by the cameras which are
transfered from indoor to out door. 7. Some cameras must be used which can exclude the glare caused due to the glasses. This helps the camera to work even in the
mid of the street light, or any exterior light.
8 One must remember that no cameras other than Infra-red supported can take pictures in zero light. 9. Another thing to be considered is that the Infra-red supported cameras require more power. Each Infra-red supported
camera's power usage is provided along with the manual.
